Body for Life (Aust) is dedicated to offering clients the highest level of massage therapy specialising in:
Treatments
Remedial Massage
Is a specialised form of massage aimed at alleviating muscle tension, releasing toxins and improving blood and lymph flow therefore aiding recovery rate after injury, coping with chronic pain or improving overall performance. The treatment also provides a thorough assessment of joint and muscle movements which leads to a highly effective treatment for both acute and chronic conditions. It can be used as a tool to help release tired and sore muscles, or used to break down scar tissue, muscle adhesions and knots, help to re-educate posture or promote recovery from injury.
Sports Massage
A sports specific massage treatment can include:
- Pre-competition massages which aid in warming and mobilising muscles to have you ready for your performance.
- Post-competition/training Massages will help to minimise the after-effects of a hard session/competition. Toxins can be removed, reducing the effects of stiffness and fatigue, maintaining muscle mobilisation and speeding-up your recovery period.
- Maintenance Massages throughout the training season help to maintain or enhance performance and reduces the risk of injury, or re-injury.
- Rehabilitation Massages promote recovery during and after an injury. A treatment will also include stretching and strengthening exercises specific to your sport.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction. It helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue and fibre adhesions. This type of massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness and possibly some discomfort during and after the treatment.
When muscles are stressed they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A Deep Tissue Massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins. Since many toxins are released it is vital to drink plenty of water after a Deep Tissue Massage.
Dry Needling Treatment
Great for the treatment of trigger point, myofacial pain, injury and chronic muscular dysfunction. Based on western principals, not to be confused with the traditional acupuncture, Dry Needling can be used in most cases with equal or better effect than other manual therapies, with little or no post treatment side effects. Dry Needling is incorporated within the massage treatment
Myofascial Release
Aimed at restoring length and relieving tension held in the fascia and muscle, this treatment focuses on releasing soft tissue slowly and within a comfortable pressure and utilizing a range of movement and resistance techniques.
Trigger Point Therapy
Applying pressure, usually by thumb or needle to a taut band of tissue found in the muscle (specifically a trigger point). This treatment helps to reduce pain and discomfort in the area.
Stretching
Directed stretching by a therapist can re-establish muscle length, thus improving your range of movement. This is carried out after tissue work has released any muscle tension. Stretching and strengthening exercises may be given to further self manage and improve condition.
